Skateboarding is enjoyed all around the world by different communities that are able to connect and communicate with one common interest, skateboarding. Every year on 21st June we celebrate this by what is known as Go Skate Day. Since 2004 millions of people have come together to take part and share their joy of skateboarding.

At the Canterbury Academy they have used skateboarding to engage both students and the public and on Go Skate Day this was no different. On a warms summers day, the stage was set, the parks were ready! Participants arrived from different areas and communities to take part in lessons, t-shirt printing and skateboarding. Local skate shops provided donations to use as giveaways and all walked away with something for their efforts. People got the chance to communicate, share stories and meet new friends. Skateboarding is inclusive and when you build it, they will come.
